Two Policemen, who were trapped in legal clutches for 12 years after apprehending an individual with illegal charas, have finally been acquitted. One of the officers has also retired. The wife of the accused had filed a charge sheet accusing the policemen of arresting her husband for possessing illegal hashish. This long-standing case, originating from Betalghat in Nainital district in 2010, concluded with the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nainital Jyotsna’s ruling in favor of the acquitted officers. Despite their involvement in apprehending the person with illegal charas, they remained accused throughout the 12-year legal process. The allegations forced one of the officers to retire with a tarnished reputation.
