Politician murder, In 2018, Kshetra Panchayat member Virendra Manral was brutally murdered in broad daylight in the court premises in Ramnagar, Nainital district. The District and Sessions Judge has recently pronounced a verdict in the case, sentencing the four murderers and conspirators to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs. 50,000. The District Legal Services Authority has also been directed to facilitate compensation for the victim’s mother. The accused have been taken into custody and sent to jail to serve their sentences.

Thana has been transferred to Ramnagar.
