An incident of a person from another religion allegedly “defiling” the holy river Ganga in Gangotri has sparked outrage among pilgrims and saints. The individual, identified as Mohammad Mehmood Alam, was caught in the act by witnesses and subsequently surrounded and interrogated. The local police were called to the scene, and Mahmood Alam, along with the Hindu family accompanying him, was taken to the police post. Four individuals, including Mahmood Alam, faced legal action under the Police Act, and an apology was demanded from him. The Governor said that according to the basic mantra of ‘Ekam’ of the first Guru Nanak Dev ji of Sikhism, his website, along with various schemes and departments of the Central and State Government, the websites of all the 35 universities of the state, including all the 11 state universities of the state, Uttarakhand Char Dham and rehabilitation of soldiers and all the social media accounts of the Governor like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram etc. will be available at one place.
