Honey Trap : A resident of Gaulapar in Haldwani has filed a complaint with the police after being blackmailed through obscene video calls on WhatsApp. The victim claims to have already paid Rs 1.85 lakh to the perpetrators to remove the explicit videos from social media. However, they are now demanding an additional sum of five lakh rupees, threatening suicide and implicating the victim in a suicide note. The victim received a video call from an unknown girl on June 26, followed by a call from another number, where the caller informed him that the obscene video was going viral on YouTube. The victim complied with the demands, but now faces further extortion and psychological distress. The police have initiated an investigation based on the victim’s complaint.

Nabalig se chhedchhad : In Pithoragarh’s Berinag district, a man has been arrested by the police for molesting his 11-year-old daughter and assaulting his wife. The incident came to light when the woman filed a complaint stating that she was subjected to physical abuse, verbal harassment, and death threats by her husband. She also revealed that her daughter had been molested by him six months ago. Fearing for her safety, the woman had been residing at her parents’ house. The accused has been taken into custody by the Berinag police, and charges have been filed against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
