Mahapanchayat, The Uttarakhand High Court has issued a significant order banning TV debates, objectionable slogans, and discussions on social media regarding the Puraula Mahapanchayat. The court directed the government to take strict action against any disobedience of these orders and ensure strict security arrangements. News channels and social media platforms are prohibited from discussing the Mahapanchayat, and the police will enforce the order. The court also instructed the state government to investigate individuals involved in the case. Protests have erupted in the Yamuna Valley region, leading to roadblocks and the detention of individuals. Hindu organizations have planned a Mahapanchayat in Barkot on June 25 as a response to these developments.

According to the order issued to the government, all the pedal rickshaws plying on the mall road of the city should be removed within two weeks and replaced by increasing the number of e-rickshaws from the present 11 to at least 50 and allocating them if there are more candidates to take them. It has been asked to do through lottery. After this order, the pedal rickshaws which used to run till their ‘coin’ and were considered a separate identity of Nainital will become history. The next hearing of the case will be in August.
